1. Who we are
Tape DSP is the website and downloadable plugins at tapedsp.com. Privacy questions: contact@tapedsp.com.
2. Account data
When you create an account we store your email address, a hashed password (or your Google account ID if you sign in with Google), and the Terms version and time you accepted. We use this to sign you in, send verification and security mail, and keep the account working.
If you use Tape DSP, we may also keep service records needed to run the account: for example activation, entitlements, computer seats, credit balance, and notice acknowledgements.
We also email account holders occasional Tape DSP product news and offers: new plugins, Expansions, trials and updates. We send them because you have an account with us, as our legitimate interest in telling customers about our own products. Which ones you get depends on your account activity, such as whether you activated a plugin, started a trial or rendered a mix. These emails carry campaign tags on their links, a small tracking image and tracked links, so we can see which email led to a visit and, per recipient, whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use this only to see what is useful to send; account, security and purchase emails carry none of it. Every one of these emails has a one-click unsubscribe link, and Account settings has a switch for it. Account, security and purchase emails still arrive after you unsubscribe.
3. Plugin activation
A plugin may send a randomly generated installation identifier, the product name and version, and basic operating-system information so we can activate the license, apply an Expansion or the Collection, enforce the limit of three computers, deliver updates, and show product notices. We do not use this to upload your audio.
4. Audio
The downloadable plugins process audio on your computer inside your DAW. They do not transmit, upload, or store the audio you process.
When you use Tape Mastering, the audio you upload goes to our server and stays in its memory only while you work on it. It is cleared a few minutes after you close the page, and after 24 hours at most, and it is used only to return your result.
5. Cookies and local storage
Essential cookies keep you signed in, protect the session, and run the service. They are always on.
We count visits to tapedsp.com and measure which pages are read and which links are clicked, storing only a salted hash of your IP address. An approximate country, region and city are looked up from the address with a database on our own server (IP geolocation by DB-IP, https://db-ip.com); the address is not sent to anyone. Without your consent this uses an anonymous ID that changes every day, is never stored on your device, and is never linked to your account.
If you choose Accept in the cookie banner, a first-party visitor cookie (tape_vid, kept for one year) recognizes your browser across visits and is linked to your account when you sign in, and Google Analytics loads and sets its cookies to measure how visitors use the site. Reject keeps both off and deletes their cookies. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the site footer.
Tape DSP uses no advertising or remarketing cookies.
Browser local storage remembers interface preferences and your cookie choice.
6. Payments
Expansions, the Collection, and credit packs are paid through Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy processes the card or other payment method and may act as merchant of record. Tape DSP does not store your full card number. After payment we receive confirmation such as your account email, the product purchased, and the amount so we can grant the unlock or credits.
7. How we use information
We use this information to operate accounts and plugin licenses, deliver what you bought, send account emails and occasional product news and offers, provide support, keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and measure how the site is used (with Google Analytics only if you accepted analytics cookies).
8. Sharing
We share data with the processors that run the product: hosting, email delivery, Lemon Squeezy for checkout, and Google for analytics if you accepted analytics cookies. We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the service or other users.
9. Retention
Account and entitlement records last while the account is open, and for a limited time afterward if we need them for security, billing, or legal reasons. You can ask us to close an account and delete personal data we no longer need to keep.
10. Your choices
You can accept or reject analytics cookies and change that choice at any time with Cookie settings in the site footer. You can turn product news emails off with the unsubscribe link in any of them or the switch in Account settings. You can email us to see, correct, export or delete the data we hold about you, or to object to how we use it, and you can complain to your local data protection authority. Mandatory rights in your country still apply.
