What is Tape Distortion?

Tape Distortion is a saturation insert built on the saturation stage of the Tape Machine engine.

Drive pushes the signal into tape. The Expansion adds Tone, Bias, Saturation, Low End and Edge to shape the grit and pick the tape formula.

It installs with the rest of the pack.

Use it on

  • Bass moderate Drive, Mix around 60%. Harmonics make the bass read on small speakers.
  • Drums in parallel high Drive on a bus, blended under the clean kit.
  • Vocals low Drive, Edge (Expansion) for a little bite.
  • Lo-fi Cassette or Worn Character (Expansion), Tone down, Bias off center.
